In most European languages besides English the Pineapple is known as Ananas which is derived from the Paraguayan name for excellent fruit. The Pineapple is native to Central and South America. Dried Pineapple, like the fresh fruit, has a sweet mildly tart taste. Pineapples are a good source for Vitamins C and A.Dried Fruits are very versatile. Use in baked goods, salads, sauces, stuffings, trail mixes, hot cereals, muffins, scones, fruit cakes and for homemade ice cream. Use: Dried Pineapples are great out of the bag or in trail mix. They can be baked in cakes; they are also wonderful when broken up into small pieces and cooked into rice pudding. Dried Pineapple can be used in some Chinese dishes, they blend well with pork.

Preparation: There is no preparation needed for dried fruit. If used in baking, you may want to rehydrate. To rehydrate dried fruit, pour boiling water over the fruit and let sit covered for 5 to 10 minutes.
